About Us

Psychwest, Clinical & Forensic Psychology, Inc.

Psychwest, Clinical & Forensic Psychology, Inc. is a leading provider of clinical and forensic services, with over 25 years of experience in serving the community and the courts. Founded by Dr. Craig West, clinical psychologist, Psychwest has established a reputation for excellence and dedication in the field, offering a wide range of specialized services tailored to the unique needs of each client.

A cornerstone of our practice is the Mental Competency Assessment & Training (MCAT) Program, which focuses on competency restoration for individuals involved in the judicial process. Our comprehensive competency restoration program includes both assessments and training to evaluate and enhance an individual's ability to stand trial. We have been providing mental competency to stand trial services for juveniles and adults since 2007. We offer both direct community-based competency training services and the ability for others to use our licensed competency to stand trial curriculum and assessments in their own facility or program.

Our direct community-based competency training program includes providing services in various settings (e.g., home, correctional facilities, group homes, other community settings) in Central and Northern California and remote electronic services nationwide. We take pride in providing tailored support to ensure that each client receives the appropriate care and guidance to effectively navigate the legal system.

Our subscription-based Mental Competency Assessment & Training (MCAT) Program provides agencies with the training materials and resources needed to independently run a successful competency restoration program. We provide organizations with the tools needed for them to obtain the competency of juveniles and adults involved int he criminal justice system.

In addition to our competency to stand trial program, we conduct numerous forensic psychological assessments. The primary purpose of a forensic evaluation is to provide an expert opinion on an individual's mental state and behavior for legal purposes. Various forensic evaluations are conducted including risk assessments (e.g., Sex Offender evaluations, Arson Risk, & Sexually Violent Predator), competency to stand trial assessments, insanity assessments, neuropsychological evaluations, parental fitness/bonding assessments, and more. Our dedication to justice and ability to dissect complex psychological matters ensures that each case is completed effectively.

In addition to providing services to clients, we are committed to advancing the skills and knowledge of professionals through continuing education and consultation services, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of the forensic field.

At Psychwest, our culturally diverse team of highly experienced professionals are passionate about providing exceptional support and effective solutions to our clients.
Our unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and excellence has solidified Psychwest as a trusted provider of clinical and forensic services. We invite you to learn more about our company and discover how our dedicated team can help you.
