Job Description

Psychwest, Clinical & Forensic Psychology, Inc. is a leading California business providing numerous clinical and forensic evaluations. We provide extensive knowledge and experience utilizing psychological and forensic instruments including personality tests, cognitive tests, and neuropsychological instruments. Psychwest, Clinical Forensic Psychology, Inc. is home to the Mental Competency Assessment and Training (MCAT) Community-Based Program, Juvenile and Adult Training for Competency to Stand Trial, a fundamental program providing comprehensive mental competency services, including assessments and training, for juveniles and adults in the community.

In addition to our Mental Competency Assessment and Training (MCAT) program, Psychwest, Clinical Forensic Psychology, Inc. offers the Comprehensive Habilitation Assessments, Navigating Change through Education & Mentoring (CHANCE-M) Diversion Program. This innovative program is specifically designed to provide education, habilitation, and reintegration support for juveniles and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health needs involved in the criminal justice system. As part of our commitment to comprehensive services, we also conduct Risk-Needs-Responsivity (RNR) evaluations, which help to identify individual risks, needs, and responsivity factors essential for tailoring effective interventions and reducing recidivism. We are seeking a part-time committed professional to fulfill the Psychologist position to complete forensic assessments for juveniles and adults. Job Responsibilities
As a Psychologist you should be committed, compassionate, and detail-oriented. You will be working with a variety of clients in community settings completing mental competency assessments for juveniles and adults.

    • •Complete comprehensive mental competency evaluations including test administration and report writing with interpretations, recommendations, and diagnoses
    • •Serve juveniles and adults
    • •Advancement opportunities are possible, if desired, with increased duties including additional clinical and forensic assessments, company and program expansion, and management and presentation of professional presentations and courses.
    • •Develop rapport with clients and maintain a respectful environment
    • •Maintain case management duties including report writing
    • •Communicate consistently with other applicable team members regarding job responsibilities
    • •Complete assessments electronically from home and in person within community locations
    • •Use of computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Requirements
As a Psychologist, you must be enthusiastic and efficient with the ability to adjust to various assessment requirements. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, are essential.

Additional requirements of our Psychologist include:

    • •California state professional licensed psychologist
    • •Valid California driver’s license
    • •Quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to adjust to company needs

Forensic Mental Competency Trainer

Job Description

We are seeking a committed individual to fulfill the Forensic Mental Competency Trainer position to teach juveniles and adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental health issues to better understand the criminal justice process. Our professional approach is personalized, meeting each client’s individual needs, and identifying their unique learning style. Training is conducted on a one-to-one basis with an established curriculum and prepared lesson plans.

Job Responsibilities
As a Forensic Mental Competency Trainer, you are responsible for providing electronic and community-based instruction to those within the criminal justice system. Ongoing support, consultation, and training from Regional Managers and Forensic Psychologists are provided. Instruction is delivered to the clients using a multidimensional approach by engaging the clients’ auditory, visual, and tactile senses and providing an experientially inviting and engaging environment. In addition, repetition and the use of varying educational formats are utilized to ensure the needs of each client are met.

Additional responsibilities include:

    • •Applying and adjusting the individualized training plan, utilizing each individual’s developmental ability level, assessment results, the nature of his/her case, and unique learning style
    • •Developing rapport with clients and maintaining a motivating and experiential learning environment
    • •Maintaining case management duties including report writing and progress notes
    • •Communicating consistently with other Competency to Stand Trial Program staff regarding clients’ program levels and progress
    • •Communicating with outside agencies and the criminal justice system regarding the clients’ progress within the program
    • •Complete training electronically from home and in person within community locations.
    • •Using computer applications for training, documenting, and communication purposes (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Job Requirements
As a Forensic Mental Competency Trainer, you should be enthusiastic, committed, compassionate, flexible, and patient. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, are essential. It is also important that you are independent and self-motivated, with the ability to adjust to varying learning styles and developmental needs.

Additional requirements include:

    • •Previous experience in teaching is preferred, although training will be provided
    • •Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable transportation
    • •Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • •Ability to apply a multidimensional learning model within an individual learning framework
    • •Ability to serve as an effective and positive force to successfully assist clients through the program

And one of the following:

    • •A bachelor’s degree in a field related to education, psychology, or criminal justice

OR

    • •Some college credit and 1 year of experience in education, psychology, or criminal justice or working with those with developmental disabilities

OR

    • •2 years of experience in education, psychology, or criminal justice or working with those with developmental disabilities
